Laura and Eleanor get muddy for charity!
On a bright and sunny Sunday, Laura and Eleanor joined theAvanti Networking team in a challenge to raise money for CLIC Sargent who supporting children and young people with cancer. We met at Poplar Park Equestrian Centre, for a 5k stroll in the park, organised by Insane Terrain! Well the clue is in the title and insane it was.
The first kilometre was deceptive. Although there were a few horse sized obstacles to navigate and a cam net to crawl under, the terrain was mainly flat, dry and warm from the sun, giving us a false sense of security. Then we approached our first incline down into a small wooded area and the murky streams and bogs beyond. All comfort gone, the team quickly became wet and muddy. We helped each other navigate further obstacles, still designed for horses, slippery slopes and dodgy ditches. We happily finished an hour later, somewhat weary but satisfied and happy with our success.
CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. They provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. They are there from diagnosis onwards and aim to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement.
